Student exchange offers a multitude of experiences that will eventually benefit you on many different fronts: educational, personal, and long-term. It is an important first step to get yourself prepared for the increasingly globalised world, raising your awareness about and skills for the multifaceted society. The Department stands to offer you the best possible services to facilitate your chosen exchange activities in addition to those already in place at the institutional and college levels. You are encouraged to take a close look at the available exchange opportunities and talk to us wherever necessary.

Jointly sponsored by the China Youth Development Foundation and the Department of Linguistics and Translation, 51 staff and students from Mainland universities visited CityU for a 7-day visit. The event, focused on culture and discovery, kick started on 21 January and received a warm welcome by Dr Tim Wong, Director of Student Development Services, Prof Hon Chan, Assistant Dean for Internationalization, and Prof Meichun Liu, Head of Linguistics and Translation. The following week saw carefully planned exchange activities with local students and CityU staff members alike. The exchange students from China attended three CityU lectures, given by Dr Louisa Wei at SCM, Prof Jonathan Webster at LT and Prof Pei-kai Cheng at the Chinese Civilisation Centre. Together with local students, they performed discovery-based investigations in Hong Kong regarding its educational setup, the film industry, food and cuisine, languages and dialects, and traditional culture.
