The Department of Linguistics and Translation welcomed our new cohort at the Student Orientation on 25 August 2026!
Prof. Niels Schiller kicked off the BA Orientation with his warm welcome to our new undergraduate students, followed by informative briefings on academic roadmaps, exchange options, university support, and internships from Prof. Cecilia Chan, Prof. Adel Chaouch-Orozco, Major Leader Prof. John Lee, Mr. Ben Simmans (Chan Feng Men-ling Chan Shuk-lin Language Centre), and Ms. Iris Lau (Committee Against Sexual Harassment). A standout highlight was the interactive mentor-mentee session—a fantastic opportunity for new students to connect directly with faculty mentors, ask questions, and build strong support networks right from day one.
The afternoon was followed by the MA Orientation, which was opened by Prof. Cecilia Chan. Programme leaders and advisors, including Prof. Bin Li, Prof. Jackie Yan, and Ms. Camellia Li (Career and Leadership Centre) walked students through academic expectations, career services, and internship pathways. The spotlight of the session was an inspiring alumni sharing featuring Dr. Lin Qiuhan, who provided invaluable insights and practical advice for navigating postgraduate success.
