Admission Arrangements for JUPAS ApplicantsJUPAS HKDSE students will apply for admission to first-year studies at the Department of Linguistics and Translation with an undeclared major. During their first year, students will study a broad range of Gateway Education (GE), College foundation and specified courses, as well as the Department’s foundation courses in linguistics and translation. Students will enter a major after the first year of study. The top 40% of students [based on (i) cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at the end of Semester B; (ii) no failed grades in any courses in Semesters A and B; and (iii) completion of at least 30 credit units in Semesters A and B, including the number of credit units specified by the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the Department of Linguistics and Translation for its required courses] will have free choice of the majors offered by the Department. The other 60% of students will be allocated a major of their choice, subject to the availability of places and the selection criteria set by individual majors. Assessment of JUPAS (HKDSE) ApplicationsOther Considerations HKDSE applicants meeting the entrance requirements will initially be prioritized based on their admission score for main consideration. For applicants with the same score, the Department will consider other information to determine their order in the priority list, such as:
