Abstract
The use of notes is a key skill in Consecutive Interpreting. This workshop attempts to provide a set of basic concepts and tools with which participants can use afterwards to develop their own systems and practice. First, there will be an introduction to and demonstration of how to use notes to aid interpreting. Then, there will be hands-on training - participants will be working sometimes as a class and sometimes in pairs to design and develop their notes and try out interpreting from notes. As this is a workshop, the benefit is in participation. It is essential to bring a hand-held notepad and a pen. Don’t come just to listen – there will be very little to listen to.
