YMCA Language Instruction and Civil Participation Training Program (Summer 08) The program, housed in the YMCA Language Center, US, is a three-month (12 weeks) training program that will train students in skills and methodology relating to language learning and teaching (both English as a Second Language as well as Foreign Languages), civic participation, social services, and program administration. Trainees will receive close supervision and mentoring of senior staff at the Center. Below lists some highlights of the program. Detailed description and application form are attached. Application procedures Interested CTL students please submit the attached application form to CTL General Office by 5:00pm, 21 April 2008 (Monday).CTL will direct your application to YMCA Hong Kong. LATE APPLICATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Applicants will go through a strict review procedure set by YMCA Hong Kong and compete with other non-CTL/non-CityU candidates.   • at least 2 years of formal post-secondary education
  • at least 3 years of post-secondary professional experience in language teaching or community services (including voluntary work)
  • excellent English language skills
Cost
  • Airfares (HK – New York)

  • Administrative cost (HK$8000)
Allowance In addition to free housing and accommodation and medical insurance, trainees will receive allowance of totally US$1,200. Allowance will be paid on a bi-weekly basis. CTL may also provide financial support to accepted trainees. Thank you!
