Abstract
The notion of context has long been recognized as significant to the study of translation and interpreting, this study reviews a range of perspectives on context as elaborated in the recent literature related to interpreting studies and second language acquisition. The focus lies on the description of the active processes of interpreting learning course in which the interpreting learners engage or to which they have to respond. Based on the observation of the consecutive interpreting activities and surveys of the interpreting learners, a study through the grounded theory is carried out to explore the characteristics of context in consecutive interpreting course and how factors function in the process of the performance of the interpreting learners.
