The Department of CTL Prize for Innovation in Promoting Student Learning

Aim:
The prize is to encourage students of the department to develop innovative ideas in helping themselves and their fellow classmates to learn more effectively in a student-centred learning activity or environment.
Eligibility:
CTL students (undergraduate or postgraduate students in UGC-funded or self-financing programmes) are eligible to apply. Student participants can either submit the proposal individually or in a group.
Prize of Award:
HK$5,000 for the most understanding proposal. If you are interested, please fill in the Form downloadable from here (see the green line above).
Deadline:
Submission of proposal should reach CTL General Office before 5:00 pm on
19 December 2008 (Friday).
Selection criteria and interview:
The proposed scheme should be doable, practical, student-led, and most important, innovative. The winner of the prize is required to implement such a scheme in the second semester of the academic year. In its implementation, while the department will provide the necessary support, the scheme is expected not to involve excessive investment in resources – human or financial.
Shortlisted candidates will be arranged for an interview in January 2009. In the interview, candidates can explain more fully the scheme and answer queries from the Panel of Judges.
The scheme is to be implemented in Semester B and the winner will be interviewed again at the end of the implementation period for a debriefing session to reflect on the scheme.
The Department reserves the right to withdraw the prize if no appropriate proposal could be selected. The decision of the Department is final.
Participants not invited for an interview by the end of January 2009 will be considered unsuccessful for the prize.
