Abstract
How the online, GoLanguages platforms have facilitated customized, learner-centric education globally. Case studies from GoChinese featured.
We have invested in technology – but how can it make a bigger difference in learning? In his recent publication, Disrupting Class, Harvard Business School's Prof Clayton Christensen concluded that for the learning experience to become more effective, a customized, "learner-centric" approach should be emphasized and that "the proper use of technology as a platform for learning offers a chance to modularize the system and therefore customize learning."
This talk will share with you how GoChinese – part of the GoLanguages series of online learning platforms – has utilized its ability to online-enable and multimedia-enrich customized learning materials and thus effectively support language learning in Asia, UK and the U.S. We will feature case studies where this technology has supported instructor-created course materials, distance / independent learning, mixed-level classes, collaborative projects and certifications. Teachers can access this platform during class, save administrative time and student motivation is increased, with on-going usage outside the classroom.
GoLanguages support online, curriculum-based learning materials that can be contributed or customized by all participants in the learning process – publishers, authors, instructors and learners. This award-winning content delivery technology brings to life any preset or user-created learning materials by auto-generating voice output, definitions and other learning support. GoLanguages and GoChinese are Blackboard Building Blocks and operate seamlessly with the Blackboard Learning System.
